Log in or register to post comments Hana!! Submitted by Glotz on Tue, 2022-10-11 20:57 Okada-san!! Log in or register to post comments Mainstream hifi media are going way too easy on MoFi! Submitted by Gary Thomas on Tue, 2022-10-11 21:28 The mainstream hifi media are going way too easy on Mobile Fidelity regarding the recent revelation that they've been using a digital domain for their vinyl for nearly a decade, yet allowed the public to be conned, and all while reaping unprecedented financial rewards. As an example, The Absolute Sound have three MoFi controversy articles in their current issue, yet they gave MoFi and their CEO an outrageously pathetic kid glove treatment all-around. It was, and is, disgusting. One angle essentially stated that since the music sounds so good anyway, and also since MoFi have been long-time vinyl enthusiasts, then all is well. No it isn't ok, you apparently fake audio news journalists! As they say, fool me once, shame on you... absolutely! Then again, maybe they were in on the deception all around, as all took to finally bust the damn on the monster con was a handful of "What the heck is up with 40K copies worth of Thriller lacquer?" and the main man at Phoenix's The-N-Grooves doing a bit of actual investigative journalism himself. And I sincerely wish that the new guys at Analog Planet, who this far appear to have only mentioned this story in posting one incredibly lame, evasive, and deceptive MoFi statement, would instead actually analyze, investigate, and comment much more thoroughly regarding what is easily the top audiophile music business story of the year, and maybe of all time. After all, trust and confidence in this website and in hifi journalism in general, depends a lot on doing something other than whitewashing and otherwise ghosting a critically important story and controversy regarding a major player in the vinyl industry, and is also an important aspect surrounding the endlessly and needlessly deceptive and evasive information regarding whether or not an LP is all-analog or has, as we now clearly know MoFi does, a digital aspect somewhere in-between. Thank you, and all the best upon taking the reigns from Mike Fremer here at Analog Planet. PS Could someone please give me the lowdown on why Mr. Fremer seemingly left both Analog Planet and Stereophile all of a sudden. And did his relationship with MoFi and/or the vinyl resurgence in general have anything to do with it? I'm simply curious, as the timing and massive MoFi mess are almost way too coincidental to actually be coincidental. Black Wax Records at 666 1/3 Main St. in Lafayette, Indiana.

It is a lovely little store..lots of second hand and new as well!

Very friendly, great to have a browsing spot in a downtown, in 2022.

Favorite record store in Charlotte NC is Repo Record. Great people work there always fun to come say hello. Always some good used gems and a great $1 section.

EH were my grandfather's initials... how could this NOT be my cartridge?

Plan 9 records in Richmond, VA has been one of the best record stores in the USA for 40 plus years!

I’m looking to upgrade an ancient turntable. The brand I am looking at, SOTA, is said to pair nicely with Hana cartridges.

is my favorite record shop. Helpful friendly staff and a variety of cool '60s-'70s retro stuff PLUS fossils, rocks and minerals. This Hana EH cartridge would bring my playback system into the 21st century!

My favorite record store is Record Surplus in West Los Angeles. Have been going there for 25-plus years, and always find something interesting..... Fair prices too.

A great store! I just discovered it last year and it's such a wonderful throwback to stores from the 80s... although the prices are a little different than they were back then lol

Vertigo Records Grand Rapids MI Herm, the owner, is awesome!

The best local place to buy LP's is Hideaway Music in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. They also sell used gear.

Spin me in! Princeton Record Exchange.

I live in Arizona and 1 hour north of Phoenix, so when I need a great selection of records to select from and a clean invirement, I only hit The In Groove: 3300 N 24th St, Phoenix, AZ 85016. I must have purchased like 2 doz boxes of of his $2.00 on up records that are in the crates under all of the shelves. I have also set my sights on the Hana EL cartridge as my next TD-160 Thorens table addition. Money is just a little tight right now, but I will get there. Thank you for the chance to enter this drawing, hope I win!

Sorry about the missprint, Hana EH, High Output. I do not have a preamp...yet!

(currently) Pops Resale in Lexington, Kentucky. (formerly, because they closed) Cut Corner records, also in Lexington.

Have vinyl: check Have good turntable: check Have good cartridge: problem. Need better cartridge. Please provide. :-)

Somehow, I know that this will help me with my toothache. I need a win.

@sugarpierecords - visit Antwerp Belgium, stock up on records at Sugar Pie Records located in the Gierstraat but be sure to save a few euro's for a Westmalle tripel at the Witzli-Poetzli bar where I have never heard a bad record played! The Hana can be send to Moergestel, the Netherlands.

Favorite record store would have to be the wonderful: Record High in Phoenix 4242 E. University Dr. Phoenix, AZ 85034

l have a couple of HANA Cartridges, they are excellent

What A great cartridge. I would love to have it.

I would like to try the EH if I win!

is my favorite record store. I always find something great to add to my collection at a reasonable price. Also, the owner, Adam Kirk, is a wealth of knowledge and provides some great recommendations

Include me in the sweepstakes

Yes, I would be pleased to win!

The Music Room in Chestertown, MD.

and I even like the color!

My son will love his new cartridge!

That's a lot of mhos!

What would Mr Siemens say?

Can't go to record shops..... too dangerous! But when I do go it is to Sunday records in Riverhead NY. Shout out to Freebird in Dublin where I spent many hours and much cash in my youth! ps I need a new cart!

is a great store in St. Louis!

Its in League City Texas. They have all the good stuff. the best part, a wall of Hair Band metal.

Signed up for the Hana, been a long time reader. Cheers!

Perfect timing. I need a new cartridge

Would love to try a MC! My favorite record store was In Your Ear records but they just closed recently. Have to find somewhere new.

Laury's is a cute neighborhood shop with a good mix of new and used vinyl.I picked up my copy of Booker T and the MGs' "McLemore Avenue" there.

Lack of pretension and a very browsable selection. Great online shop.

Great used records as well as new vinyl. Always can trust ratings of used vinyl, which is so hard to find. Especially online. Trustworthy

My favorite record store is The Record Exchange in Salem, MA. Great selection and Paul is an expert on all things vinyl.

That used to be mine too! ..way back. Glad to hear that it’s weathered the past 33 years!

I can’t tell you my favorite record store, you think I’m gonna blow up my secret spot where I get all the good finds? Then I’m gonna have no new records to try out this cart with!

I have read most of the reviews and comments on this cartridge, and it looks perfect fro my system and record collection. Good luck to me!

Can't get enough of em! This cartridge would be put to good use on records, notably cheap heat bought at the mighty Hercules Records in Berkeley, CA.

My favorite record shop is in Griffith Indiana called S$J Stereo. Fantastic collections for f old and new vinyl in great shape and fair prices! Jim the owner is the best.

Best record store is Enterprise Records in Portland, ME. Bob is super helpful, has great inventory, and good prices

it would be fun to try a Hana cartridge out

Heard great things about their cartridges

Obsession Records - Anchorage Ak. Great service and quality used records.

RBCV Music/Video/CD's at Brighton 2nd St in Brooklyn. Great selection of new/used vinyl at fair prices, plus lots of Euro stuff you don't see elsewhere.

Second place: Comnpact disk Shoppe at Avenue U and Bedford Ave in Brooklyn. Small inventory of new/used vinyl, but top-notch RSD selections.

My favorite record store is Lost and Found Records in Knoxville, TN. I grew up spending hours on end as my dad scored piles and piles of records for next to nothing in the late 90's early 2000's... I now find myself as an adult shopping there and constantly finding hidden gems... Thanks!

Favorite record stores: Flat Black Circular and The Record Lounge in Lansing, MI

always wanted to hear this

Enterprise Records in Portland, Maine and Love Garden in Lawrence, Kansas.

Hi. Thanks for your consideration :)

just getting into vinyl and don't have a favorite record store just yet but Josey Records might be my favorite so far.

For me it's The Vinyl Groove in Bedford, Ohio (near Cleveland). Good prices and selection and the owner (David) is super cool to chat with -- or just listen to him chat with other customers. Dig this pic https://www.ideastream.org/news/will-the-crowds-return-on-record-store-day

Back in the day … worked there at Sam Goody records. Loaded up on vinyl….now buy used at Mr. Cheapo

I’d love to do a little in home testing.

Undoubtedly would be an upgrade!

but my current fave shop is Ella Guru in Decatur GA. still manage to find gems that aren't overpriced in this day and age. Also, props to Decatur CD, for when you need something that's been released in the past week or so

I live in LA and 3 of my favorites, Record Safari, Twelves Long Beach and Permanent Records Roadhouse just made this list: https://www.lamag.com/atyourservice/the-5-best-independent-record-stores...

But my all-time favorite is much harder for me to pay regular visits to: Superfly Records in Paris.

Hook me up with that Hana!

Siren Records in Doylestown, Pa. Great selection of new and used records, tapes and cd. They do a great job on RSD too.

Check out Locked Groove Records by the Ball State University campus!

Music Connection in Manchester, NH is a great store. Tons of stuff to look through.

I have wanted try this cartridge for a while...hope I win

Hub City Vinyl in Hagerstown Maryland. It's great for its selection of new and used vinyl, tapes, and restored vintage audio equipment that would sound great with the Hana.

Discogs is my go to for vinyl store, but locally Wax Trax Records is the place to spend an entire day shopping. Love my Hana SL moving coil cartridge, but would love to have the EH on my Thorens TD309. I'm feeling it!

Enough said in the subject line. And my favorite store/supplier/keepers- of-true-analog-stuff is the team at Audio Element in Pasadena CA.

Looking to upgrade on my Nagaoka MP-110. Best of luck to all.

The mainstream hifi media are going way too easy on Mobile Fidelity regarding the recent revelation that they've been using a digital domain for their vinyl for nearly a decade, yet allowed the public to be conned, and all while reaping unprecedented financial rewards.

I'd sell it and go up to a ML!!!!

Nothing better than a new cartridge to add life to a table and arm. Just started to visit “Dudley's Records Vintage Vinyl” in Torrance, CA.

My new favorite record store is Angry Mom Records, Ithaca, NY

Hana Yo! I'm yer Boyo!!

My favorite record store at the moment is Sound Exchange in Wayne, NJ. They have a new owner (for a year now), and he has made it so much easier to shop for vinyl than previously. Great people and great selection.

Would love to have this for my aging turntable

Living in the Atlanta there are some great stores and owners, but a gem in my immediate are is Retrosound Records. Great small shop owned by a very knowledgeable owner, Ken. He's a musician and music industry vet who goes out of his way to spread the love to his customers. Visit if you're in the Kennesaw/Woodstock Georgia area.
